For those of you who have had a week or more on the Amalfi Coast and had the joy of pulling into one of its beaches, this one a short boat ride away, fallen asleep after a plate of ‘paccheri allo scorfano’ on your beach bed (and possibly had a little snore) and stayed on the beach to the last rays of the day, you will know what I mean. That last boat ride home stays with you, the scent of saltwater and pine, of peaches in jugs of white wine and joy that has filled every cell in your body, there is nothing left to do other than let the tears roll. Tears of joy, pleasure and of pure recognition that you had the chance to live one of life’s glorious moments.
