British-born artist Matthew Watts emigrated to Australia in 2001. He considers himself a painter of ‘places and things’ and his subject matter reflects aspects of everyday life he sees around him, but which is common to us all; our surroundings, the things we surround ourselves with and the often quotidian nature of our existence. He engages with and responds to these things through drawing and painting.
